Shawna Valdez, business manager

After earning her associates of arts degree, Shawna joined our team as the business manager in 2005. She plays an essential role in keeping the front office running smoothly, to the benefit of patients and staff. Shawna has continued her education with courses from LVI, Dental Concierge, and PerioProtect. She enjoys offering friendly service and genuine compassion to our patients, and she understands the importance of building trusting relationships with open communication.

Shawna and her husband, Marco, have a daughter and two sons. In her time away from the office, Shawna enjoys making designer cakes, cupcakes, and cake pops. She also likes to read and cheer her kids on at their sporting events.

Erin rice, dental hygienist

A dental hygienist has an associate’s degree and specializes in the care and treatment of gums, as well as in oral healthcare practices. Erin earned her degree at SJVC and joined our team in 2005. She also has certification for dental laser and has taken courses with LVI and in PerioProtect. Patients and staff members appreciate Erin’s attention to details, as well as her gentleness and compassion. Dental hygiene is not just a job, but a career for Erin. She holds membership with the American Dental Hygienist’s Association and the California Dental Association. Spending one-on-one time with patients and seeing the physical and emotional benefits of improved oral health keep Erin excited about coming to work each day.

Erin's husband is a dentist in Turlock, Dr. Jeff Rice. Her three step-sons keep her and Jeff busy with multiple sports throughout the year.  Erin also has three dogs, one of which is a new puppy, who keep the whole family on their toes. For fun and fitness, she likes to water ski, snow ski, and run; to relax, Erin enjoys traveling, boating, and wine tasting.
